Drab to Fab Office Makeover!
Do you wish your workspace reflected your personality and left you inspired to be your best every day?
We did! So, we asked celebrity designer Kyle Schuneman, owner of Live Well Designs, to transform a typically drab and boring office into a fabulous workspace that would make anyone volunteer to stay late at work.
Your boss can thank us!
When Kyle first walked into the cramped space, he saw the potential to create an office that was functional, but looked like a feminine and chic gathering place. By painting the walls a serene blue, it balanced the room with a soft yet professional feel. Plus, Benjamin Moore's Natura Paint kept it eco-friendly with zero VOCs (which means no odor -- score!)
The anchor of the room was the desk and the clean and modern Parsons desk from Room and Board was the perfect piece, with its black metal base and white quartz top that popped against the wall color. The classic lines of the file cabinet from Ballard Designs kept the room feeling timeless and the mix of the two
By placing the file cabinet in the center of the window, instead of pushed up to one side like before, it created a symmetrical background -- making a powerful design statement, perfect for an office. The curtain panels from Lotus Bleu and the beautiful crystal lamps from Restoration Hardware draw attention to the great view and finish off the symmetry.
The grey tufted settee brought in the feminine curves to counter the hard lines of the desk and filing cabinet. The exquisite Kieran side chairs from Jayson Home and Garden provide comfortable seating for guests during meetings. Carrying on with the feminine lines, the black baroque frames from Ikea create a great place for custom artwork. We used them to display antique wallpaper -- a great option for people who want the look of wallpaper, without the hassle of putting it up on the wall.
The room might not look like your typical office, but still needed to function as one so a mirrored dresser from Pier 1 Imports was added for ample storage. In addition to hiding unsightly items, it also reflects the view of the opposite side of the windows for the person sitting at the desk. A mirrored side table from West Elm kept the room light and airy and a fantastic white leather desk chair from Overstock made the office complete.
